Description of Work

DST is hiring a Systems Administrator for the Information Technology Division. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

About Us

The Information Technology Division (ITD) is to develop, implement and support automated systems that meet the programmatic requirements of the Department of State Treasurer (DST), and to ensure that the information resources are utilized most efficiently and cost-effectively.

Systems Administrator is primary support for Exchange, Fax Services, Network Print Services, Ivanti, Commvault, FTP Services, Backups / Restores, SCCM and disaster recovery. Provides support for applications within the Department of State Treasurer such as ORBIT, Core Banking, Logics, Wagers, Terminal Servers, Leapfile, Silent Print and HRS Pro. The Tier II Support Team is responsible for building / decommissioning servers, supporting all versions of Windows operating systems for both servers and desktop and provides advanced desktop support to support technicians for all divisions within the Department of State Treasurer.

Job Duties

  • Understand and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure systems at a high to expert level including Microsoft System Center, Microsoft Exchange in hybrid environment, Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft cloud solutions such as Microsoft O365, Azure AD, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Understand Vmware systems virtualization administration and maintenance.
  • Understand enterprise backup strategies and applications at a medium to high level.
  • Be able to work at a functional level to support, maintain, and deploy enterprise fax service solutions, FTP solutions in a highly secure environment, and serve as backup for both our Desktop support team on escalated matters as well as our senior infrastructure engineers when projects call for extra staff.
  • Independently resolves routine / non-routine problems through standard troubleshooting procedures on third party applications and agency software / hardware.
  • Documents solutions that solve client problems, creates standard operating procedures, and clearly presents these solutions.
  • Responds to ad-hoc requests in an accurate and timely manner to minimize system outages.

The Department of State Treasurer's campus is located on Atlantic Avenue, is surrounded by many shopping centers and restaurants, has access to a 24-hour 7-day a week free gym on the campus, and has free employee parking.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following :

  • Demonstrated ability to administer systems in an enterprise level Microsoft systems-based environment.
  • Thorough knowledge understanding higher level user administration in Active Directory.
  • Experience providing advanced desktop and user support for Desktop Services Group.
  • Working knowledge of file share permissions and SMB file shares and how they integrate with a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure and deploy Vmware OS Guests, Configure and or assign, Virtual Networking, memory, and processors.
  • Candidate must be able to participate in backup media management.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot media issues related to backup solution.
  • Management Preferences

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering and three years of experience
  • Associate's degree in computer information technology, computer technology integration; networking technology database management and three years of experience

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role;
  • Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role;
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
