This posting is for a Transportation Supervisor I in the Wilson County Maintenance Unit.
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
Work includes reading and interpreting plans, determining personnel, equipment and material needs to complete assigned maintenance tasks. Employee is responsible for making appropriate adjustments to plans to meet field conditions, planning, monitoring and ensuring safety standards are adhered to, daily documentation of personnel, material and equipment usage, responding to public inquiries, attending training and continuing education classes to keep up to date on all state and federal regulations and maintain certifications in all required areas (ie: traffic control and environmental stewardship). The employee must safely be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Safety toe shoes required.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

This posting is for a Transportation Supervisor I in the Wilson County Maintenance Unit.
- Work is related to maintenance and repair of State-maintained roads within Wilson County and supervision of subordinates in the maintenance and construction of highways.
- You must be able to maintain a close team environment or work independently, as needed.
- In this position you will supervise roadway maintenance crew working in and around heavy traffic, heavy equipment and with power tools. Responsibilities include supervision of roadway maintenance crew involved in drainage maintenance, patching, shoulder repair, paved and unpaved roadway maintenance, vegetation management, snow and ice removal, and emergency response to roadway maintenance needs.
- You must be able to install and maintain work zone control plans. Complete daily work reports and conduct daily tailgate meetings.
- In this position you are required to work nights and weekends as needed for emergencies and planned operations in all types of weather conditions and on uneven surfaces and slopes.
