The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle and have a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License. Â Either possession of a current Commercial Driver's License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire. Â Release forms ALCDRG-01 and ALCDRG-06 must be signed allowing NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol. Â Safety toe footwear required.

- Working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction proceduresÂ
- Working knowledge of Work Zone Safety and Workplace safety policies
- Experience in at least two pieces of Category B Maintenance equipment (asphalt distributor, asphalt mixer, asphalt patcher, crack sealing machine, ditching machine, force feed loader, front end loader, lube truck, asphalt maintainer, post driver, skid steer, street sweeper, tandem dump truck, tractor "A" boom mower, truck w/aerial device)
- Experience in one of the following: Â pipe installation, installation of erosion control devices, snow and ice removal, ditch maintenance or asphalt patching
