Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience in traffic control and lane closures on multi-lane roads
- Experience in supervising and training others in equipment operations as well as directing the daily activities of a work crew
- Experience in rigging loads for crane/lifting operations
- Experience in the maintenance and installation of erosion control devices
- Experience in the operation of at least 2 pieces of the following equipment: backhoe, tandem dump truck, front end loader, forklift, track excavator, skid steer or sweeper
Additional Expectations:
Possession of a current Commercial Driver’s License is mandatory for essential duties. CDL can be obtained through on-the-job training with 360 days to obtain a license. Pre-employment drug testing required for this position. As a condition of employment, a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be completed and signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing. Safety toe footwear required.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
