Primary Purpose Of Position
Want to be part of a unique work experience that saves wildlife and wild places? It’s a Zoo here, literally! The North Carolina Zoo seeks an experienced Zoo Telecommunications Supervisor for its first shift Emergency Operations Telecommunications team. The primary purpose of the position is to be responsible for providing supervision in the NC Zoo Telecommunications Center. Telecommunications (Zoo Com) Supervisor will be responsible for the North Carolina Zoo emergency communications center, answers all emergency and non-emergency calls, receives complaints and request for service, obtains necessary information and dispatches Zoo EMT medical, emergency medical, fire and law enforcement personnel. Communications Supervisors are to ensure all communications equipment is functional and operating appropriately. Telecommunicators will operate computers and dispatch terminal, and enter medical, fire and law enforcement calls into a computer aided dispatch system. Monitors North Carolina Zoo radio channels, maintains radio contact with dispatched resources. Provides directions for responding units. Maintains communications logs and reports including the nature of calls, actions taken and the time involved. Monitors North Carolina Zoo fire alarm and security alarm systems. Provides oversight and leadership for assigned employees, to include training, coaching, and mentoring.
