What you will do:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Directs all aspects of the division including managing and leading staff, developing and implementing division objectives and goals, and collaborating with other internal and external leaders to plan and ensure that long-term Court objectives are achieved.
Implements division standards and objectives; monitors status; and ensures that the division runs efficiently and within established financial guidelines.
Hires, trains, and develops staff within the division; ensures that all staff members operate within Court standards and policies; monitors staff workload and performance and addresses performance issues as needed.
Facilitates, guides, and executes the strategic initiatives and programs of the division in collaboration with the division leadership team, staff, and others. Regularly assesses progress and adjusts as needed.
Manages division resources with Senior Manager of Operations; develops, recommends, and monitors annual budgets; implements an effective organization to achieve objectives; ensures the division operates within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Court. Estimates costs and monitor expenses; manages grants and other financial resources to ensure they are consistent with plans; analyzes trends and makes projections for future financial requirements; propose specific and overall budget requirements.
Oversees curriculum and course development and implementation with the Deputy Director; evaluates effective use of instructional methodology and success of the varied modes of education delivery.
Serves as liaison with the Judicial College Board of Trustees to seek advice to inform Judicial College’s operations and fulfilment of its mission. Prepares materials, reports, and needed resources to provide to the Board Chair and members to inform discussions and recommendations.
Performs liaison duties with other state agencies, federal agencies, legislators, national organizations, public groups, and associations; serves as primary spokesperson for the Judicial College.
Implements programs requiring multi-year time periods through complex decision process involving extensive research and coordination, cooperation of court personnel and other governmental agencies; prepares and recommends regulations concerning activities within the judicial and court services division; serves on policy making and quasi-judicial bodies of state.

What we’re looking for:
Requires an advanced degree with a focus on education, instructional design, adult learning, instructional technology, public administration, social services, or business or a law degree.
Requires a minimum of ten years’ experience in the above areas with at least five years in a management role and significant expertise in preparing and delivering education programs for adults using instructional design model and analyzing performance needs assessments or developing continuing education curriculum.
Experience in a legal environment preferred.
Requires demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in project/program management.
Requires the ability to produce a high volume of work within a deadline. Ability to meet multiple deadlines and deal with shifting priorities.
Requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving skills; requires ability to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with justices, judges, attorneys, supervisors, co-workers, and the public. Requires strong public speaking skills to both large and small groups.
Requires demonstrated excellence in leadership, planning, and ability to manage conflict and to effectively handle difficult people and conversations. Requires the ability to establish and maintain collaborative effective working relationships with superiors staff, other division directors and managers, public officials, and state agencies.
Requires judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information.
Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, to deal with a large number of variables, and to determine specific action. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Requires the ability to write complex reports and position papers.
This position is regularly exposed to sensitive information and the employee is expected to keep any such information strictly confidential.
Valid driver’s license required.
This position requires the ability to work flexible hours and travel on Court business may be extensive and require overnight stays.

The salary range for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $138,675.00 - $155,000.00.
