What we need:
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Equipment Operator 3 within the Division of Forestry, headquartered at Scioto Trail State Forest, assigned to Ross county. The address is 2731 Stoney Creek Rd, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CLASS A COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE WITH NO RESTRICTIONS.
What you will do…
- Operate heaviest types of motorized construction equipment for division construction & maintenance projects.
- Help maintain/repair paved & gravel forest roads, hiking trails, bridle trails, a primitive horse camp, bridges & culverts.
- Provide wildland fire protection within the forest & surrounding wildfire protection area.
- Knowledge of logging practices & procedures; timber stand improvement, principles & techniques.
- Operate heaviest of motorized logging and log merchandising equipment including knuckle boom log loaders (truck and trailer mounted), log skidders, wheel loaders etc.
- Operates chainsaw for felling, bucking & limbing of trees and logs in a logging or log merchandising operation.
- Starting hourly pay of $21.63/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 4.5 years of service, with an end salary of $24.66/hr
