Job Duties:
- Requires thorough knowledge of architectural or industrial engineering or design to establish parameters on mechanical and electrical projects
- Manages and oversees the Operation Support Center (OSC) facilities operations for assigned buildings and/or DRC employee work locations (e.g., Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), DRC Harmon Rd, DRC Fisher Rd, DRC 1221 McKinley, and DRC Rhodes Tower 17th floor)
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments to pinpoint any facility issues or potential risks
- Prepares project plans and calculations, specifications, bidding documents to existing systems
- Directs work activities of contractors and personnel during construction phase for assigned projects
- Conducts analysis of forecasting, budgeting, and financial management of allocated resources, including tracking expenses; establishes regular and preventive maintenance programs to include preventative maintenance, repairs, building management, procurement, and upgrades
- Advise and assist in the development of facility policies, procedures, and standards to ensure building services and operations run smoothly
- Coordinates with various agency departments, vendors, and contractors to ensure the timely completion of projects and hired services
- Handles emergency repair problems on a 24-hour call basis
- Meets with contractors, architects, and officials of other government agencies, at all jurisdictional levels to execute work programs and to ensure compliance with established procedures
- Oversees the operation of the air conditioning and heating systems, including computerized controls and monitoring and works with ODRC staff and HVAC vendors to ensure all systems are functioning properly at DRC Harmon Rd, DRC Fisher Rd, DRC 1221 McKinley, prioritizes repairs and communicates with all parties involved regarding project status
- Works and ensures compliance with fire systems (e.g., suppression systems, sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers)
- Consult and advise on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services performs and completes maintenance repairs and/or upkeep (e.g., pipe fitting, boiler repairs, insulation, welding, machining, carpentry, electrical or mechanical equipment, building repairs; plumbing fixtures, fencing, asphalt, concrete and ceilings) Performs other maintenance work such as assembling and disassembling desks, modular components and office furniture
- Coordinates and plan designs and construction using “AUTO CAD”
- Assists supervising incarcerated people (IP) work crews and provides proper documentation for institutional observation logs and calling in count
- Gives instruction and training to IP’s on how to perform minor and sometime major renovations which includes construction and general maintenance
