What we need:
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Natural Resources Technician 3 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Muskingum River State Park located in Morgan County. Typical hours for this position are 7:30AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday, during the winter months. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, this position may work some weekends.
This position requires a Class A Commerical Driver's License (CDL) without restrictions and will need to obtain a pesticide applicator license (Commerical Core and Category 5, Industrial Vegetation Control) as issued by the Department of Agriculture, within one year of hire.
What you will do…
- Work outside in some of the most beautiful parks in Ohio;
- Act as a lead worker for lock operations, grounds and facility maintenance;
- Operate and maintain the historic Muskingum River Navigation System allowing boats to safely pass through the only hand operated lock system remaining in the country;
- Maintain a variety of park equipment and vehicles;
- Interact daily with a variety of customers who utilize the park & watercraft facilities;
- Operate a boat to mark and maintain navigation channels;
- Starting hourly pay $21.63/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $24.66/hr.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:
Pesticide applicator license as issued by Department of Agriculture required within one year of hire; positions operating watercraft must complete boat operator education course per Ohio Revised Code 1547.05.
