Official Position Description:
Supervises staff (e.g., evaluates performance, approves leave, recommends discipline, etc.). Establishes & implements operational plan for District Garage equipment maintenance program. Supervises all equipment maintenance & repair in the District and County Garages. Assists in development of equipment maintenance programs, establishing work priorities, determining work schedules, coordinating equipment needs & establishing standard operating procedures. Prepares & oversees operating budget for District Garage.
Responsible for preliminary review & approval of requisitions for materials, tools, & equipment. Recommends long term changes in work practice based trends effecting the cost center including conducting research into new equipment, changes &/or product utilization. Determines purchasing priorities within a fixed budget. Oversees disposal of salvage equipment.
Coordinates work force training plan & evaluates cost center practices for effectiveness & efficiency. Monitors perpetual inventories in district & county cost centers, establishing long range equipment requirements. Determines equipment rotation & oversees disposal of used equipment.
Works with Safety personnel conducting safety inspections ensuring compliance with specifications by taking necessary action to correct unsafe equipment &/or activities.
Operates automobile or other state vehicles to inspect existing conditions (e.g., straight truck, dump truck w/or w/out snow removal equipment & flatbed trucks, etc.) of equipment & evaluate for proper operation & upkeep. Schedules equipment maintenance program. Performs other duties as assigned.

Valid CDL Class B Required w/ air brake & tanker endorsement

This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards.
