Starting salary: $49,930.00
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assists in the development and implementation of individual treatment plans by working collaboratively with Behavioral Health Clinician II’s, Nursing, Interdisciplinary Therapeutic Staff, and Direct Care Specialists.
- Reviews and ensures implementation of psychology behavior plans and treatment team recommendations.
- Orients and mentors new DCS and DCS/BHA’s in the areas of behavior plans, protocols, techniques, and interventions as directed by the Nursing and Psychology Departments. Coordinates in-hospital shadowing and training for new staff in implementing behavior plans. Works with Nursing and Psychology Departments in the development and implementation of behavior training.
- Identifies avenues and training opportunities for positive behavioral support techniques relevant to the type of patient(s) in the hospital unit. Present information to the Nurse Managers and the Psychology Director for review and input. Under the direction of the Psychology Director and Behavioral Health Clinician II’s and with input from the Director of Nursing, assists in the development and coordinates the improvement of behavioral training for the staff.
- Assist other hospital personnel with related tasks as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in completion of their work activities and for the enhancement of daily operations of the hospitals.
- Under direction of the Behavioral Health Clinician II and based on patient behavior plans, ensures daily therapeutic activities are completed and patient behavioral data is documented correctly.
- Models’ appropriate patient interactions for staff by frequently interacting with patients and demonstrating appropriate and designated interventions.
- Manages time effectively to ensure at a minimum to provide weekly training and coaching of each hospital unit in the implementation of patient behavior plans as directed by the Behavioral Health Clinician II. Provides positive and constructive feedback to staff regarding clinical and professional skills on a regular basis.
- Demonstrates safety awareness and models’ proper technique throughout the entire shift to include taking a leadership role in modeling and monitoring of hand-washing techniques, use of gloves for required tasks, and compliance with appropriate isolation protocols and universal precautions.
- Utilizes appropriate lifting techniques, demonstrates awareness of patient and staff surroundings, using appropriate training techniques i.e. Safety Care, CPR, golf cart operation, and general safety of hospital unit and playground.
- Follows agency and department policy guidelines when lifting by using proper body mechanics while performing duties.
- Complies with department guidelines for lifting up to 30 pounds and obtain assistance for lifting anything over 30 pounds. Follows infection control policies, procedures, and guidelines in reporting infectious illness. Follows established guidelines for patient acuity.
- Acquires and maintains Safety Care Instructor certification when classes are available. Completes all required/assigned hospital training. Participates in departmental meetings. Notifies Behavioral Health Clinician II of any equipment or supply needs for the hospital unit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting four (4) years of relevant experience for the required education

About J.D. McCarty Center:
At J.D. McCarty Center patients are admitted for a 30-day evaluation during which they are assigned a treatment team consisting of nursing unit, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional services, social services, psychological services, behavioral analysis, and recreational therapy. Our 80-acre s campus includes a on-site elementary, intermediate, and high school which is staffed by Norman Public School teachers. Patients may continue treatment needs beyond the 30-days as an in-patient in habilitation status based upon progress or placement needs. We are a tobacco and vape free facility.
