OMES is seeking an attorney to act as an Administrative Law Judge for the Civil Service Division. This position in state government will be an independent contract position located in Oklahoma City. The hourly rate is $75 per hour. Administrative law judges are hired by OMES as independent contractors.
The purpose of this position is to preside over cases before the Civil Service Division. The Civil Service Division hears cases filed by current or former employees of executive branch agencies who have been terminated, suspended without pay, punitively transferred, or involuntarily demoted. OMES will review applications and resumes on an ongoing basis. Based on the option chosen by the filing party, the selected ALJ(s) may conduct a desk review of the case. Please submit a cover letter, resume, proposed contract, certificate of good standing plus disciplinary history from the Oklahoma Bar Association, and available start date to civilservicedivision@omes.ok.gov.

Position Responsibilities
- Research laws, regulations, policies and prior decisions and precedents to prepare for hearings and issue reports.
- Prepare timely, legally correct written decisions applying relevant federal and state laws, regulations, rulings, and policies and procedures.
- Determine findings of fact and conclusions of law in cases under review.
- Question witnesses and rule on objections, motions, and admissibility of evidence.
- Juris doctorate from an accredited law school
- Good standing with the Oklahoma Bar Association
- Previous experience acting as an administrative law judge for executive branch agencies
- Previous employment law experience
- Demonstrated knowledge regarding government functions such as public safety, law enforcement, health and human services, and administration
