- Ensuring the state has a coordinated rapid response and layoff aversion system in place, including trained staff, partnerships with local agencies, and clear procedures for responding to layoffs or prevention of.
- Working with local teams to provide immediate on-site assistance to businesses and workers.
- Developing and executing strategies to minimize the impact of layoffs on businesses, workers, and the community.
- Promoting the availability of Rapid Response services to businesses and workers, and advocating for increased funding and resources for the program.
- Collaborating with employers, employee representatives, local workforce development agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response to layoffs.
- Staying up-to-date on relevant regulations, such as the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act and ensuring that Rapid Response activities comply with those regulations.
- Ensuring that Rapid Response teams are adequately trained and supported to provide effective services.
- Collecting data on the effectiveness of Rapid Response services and using that data to improve the program.

- Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires regular periods of sitting or standing and daily use of computer and phone. It also requires the occasional use of the office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
- Education and experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree and four years of professional experience in workforce development, economic development, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience—substituting one year of professional workforce development, economic development, or public administration experience for each year of the required education.
- Computer Skills – Employee must be capable of proficiently using the OESC’s standard software (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), and the Internet, as well as proficiency to learn other software as needed.
