THE POSITION
Are you an experienced Information Technology (IT) professional with outstanding leadership skills? If so, the Office of Administration is eager to welcome an ambitious Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2 to serve as the Mainframe Operating System Section Manager. You will have the opportunity to manage a staff that performs administrative and highly advanced technical work in support of an IBM Mainframe with primary responsibility in Enterprise Server mainframe computing. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position manages the Executive Software Operating Systems Section within the Operations Division of the Infrastructure and Economic Development Delivery Center (PennDOT, DCED, PEMA) IED TSO. The mainframe computing environment includes a z16 series processor with z / OS mainframe based applications and x86 workstations running client applications. This section is responsible for providing PENNDOT with a 24x7 around the clock production system and an effective and accessible test environment that facilitates the application development process and end user computing.
The Executive Software Operating Systems Section is responsible for managing the majority of all executive and third party software for the mainframe computer located at the outsourced Pennsylvania Compute Services (PACS) Ashburn Data Center. All new software releases and upgrades affecting mainframe processing are coordinated and approved through this section to insure that the integrity of all operating system software and communications software is maintained by the consolidated data center technical support groups.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
