What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSISTANT AUDIT MANAGER/AUDIT MANAGER position at State of Rhode Island?

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) is the State of Rhode Island's legislative audit agency. We conduct financial audits. compliance audits, performance audits, and special project reviews to provide independent and reliable information to the General Assembly on a variety of topics including the State's financial condition, its use of federal funds in compliance with federal law and regulations, and whether programs are operating efficiently and effectively. Our audits also provide valuable recommendations to help governmental agencies improve their operations and enhance financial and programmatic controls. Our audit reports enhance the accountability of State government by providing Rhode Island citizens with objective information on the operations of their State.
The OAG performs audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Government Auditing Standards as required by those standard setting organizations.
Assistant Audit Manager would work with an Audit Manager for 1 year before promotion to Audit Manager.
Audit Managers are part of the Auditor General's senior leadership team and are responsible for the following duties:

Responsible for the completion of audit assignments including but not limited to:
- Audit Plan Development and Execution.
- Ensuring compliance with audit and accounting standards.
- Supervision of audit staff.
- Overseeing audit documentation process meets standards.
- Preparation of Audit Reports and other required audit communications.
- Lead audit meetings with auditee management.
- Participate in OAG quality control processes.
- Represent the office in the NSAA Peer Review program when required.
- Participate in staff training events.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Licensed as a certified public accountant with 3-years of supervisory audit experience required.
- Governmental audit experience, 5 years minimum required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good technical, analytical and computer skills.
Salary : $116,576 - $134,143
