What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Specialist position at State of South Carolina?
The admissions specialist will support the admissions process, from reviewing/entering admission applications and processing all supporting documentation to assisting the Admissions Counselors in moving an applicant to student status. The admissions specialist will monitor applicants’ progress through the admissions requirements, maintaining constant communication to support a timely and successful acceptance to the College. The admissions specialist will also routinely serve as the initial contact in Admissions and be responsible for greeting visitors and providing information/directions about the college and admissions, providing information regarding general College information, and other inquiries requested by visitors and prospective students.
- Responsible for processing all applicant related documents, applications, transcripts, residency proof and test scores; assists with conducting entrance placement assessments, imports/enters assessment scores into the system; moves applicant to accepted as needed to assist the admissions team/ Admissions Counselors; updates students’ data record in Recruit, Colleague and Etrieve as dictated by the documents being processed; assists with making IDs for students and faculty and staff who visit admissions; prepares all admissions documents for scanning/indexing.
- Monitors applicant progress in completing all admissions requirements, particularly regarding to the submission of required documents; maintains communication with applicants to ensure file is complete in a timely manner for upcoming registration period; assists with responding to emails, answering incoming calls and handling FAS escalations for the Admissions Department, routing calls and requests as needed; maintains up to date entrance requirement information for all college programs and entry level courses; coordinates efforts and work schedule with other admissions specialists to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Participates in a rotation at the information desk for in-house calls, assisting the caller and directing calls as required. Assists in maintaining an adequate supply of up-to-date information for the information desk. Assist and participate with all Admissions and Outreach events.
- Monitors progress of applicants in territories with communications, and phone and email contacts, scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and communication, responding to applicant and newly accepted student questions, concerns and needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned. High School diploma. Preferred: An associate degree; or a high school diploma and two years related work experience. The ability to type at a corrected rate of 35 words per minute and basic knowledge of computer operations. An associate degree; or a high school diploma and two years related work experience.
