Job Responsibilities
The attorney in this position will handle civil matters and be part of the Office's consumer protection and antitrust section. In addition to consumer protection and antirust litigation, the attorney will handle charitable trust matters and other civil matters as assigned by the Office.
Under limited supervision, this employee will perform legal work related to the State as well as other job responsibilities, including :
- Performs factual investigation into assigned matters to determine whether they are meritorious and have a compelling interest and to develop the case with detailed document review and analysis.
- Conducts legal research to evaluate potential claims in assigned matters and stay abreast of national consumer protection and antitrust law developments.
- Prepares written advocacy in legal documents and case presentations to the front office.
- Provides oral advocacy in dealing with outside attorneys and case presentations to the front office.
- Observe office and section protocol, including teamwork, timeliness, and communication.
- Assists with multistate cases in a lead role, on the executive committee, or as a participating state.
- Supervises outside counsel in cases where the Attorney General has signed a litigation retention agreement.
- Organize case and investigative files in compliance with office policies. Complete other assigned duties.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Juris Doctorate degree and at least five years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Necessary Requirements : Must be a member and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements
