MISSION:

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the areas assigned and provides some work direction to custodial staff. The incumbent is accountable for the completions of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision. This will include maintaining DJJ buildings and facilities within BRRC, Shivers Road, and other surrounding properties. Performs duties related to recycling throughout the agency.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the co-lead custodian.Performs and oversees custodial tasks associated with DJJ facilities and surrounding properties.
May oversee other custodial staff and contractors.
Ensures their assigned tasks align with the needs of the agency and they have proper direction with daily-weekly tasks.
Manages equipment and supplies related to custodial tasks.
Ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and the upkeep of assigned vehicle and/or equipment.
Provides recycling services as needed throughout the Agency.
Performs other related job duties as assigned by management.
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment. Position requires a valid SC Driver's license.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of how to properly carry out custodial and housekeeping tasks.
Knowledge of custodial and housekeeping standards and requirements.
Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment.
Skilled in the use to cleaning tools and equipment.
Ability to keep accurate written records.
Require being physically active to include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, stooping, and pushing consistently.
Must be able to work with and around juveniles in a correctional environment.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
