Job Responsibilities
MISSION
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE :
Under limited supervision, provides classroom instruction for all students according to their individual needs and designs curriculum in accordance with SC State Standards and vocational curriculum competencies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Prepares lesson content and instructional activities to improve students' content knowledge, mastery of skills, and to increase overall content knowledge.
Engages in best practices to deliver content - specific lessons and instruction to students in multiple education sites by means of established distance learning instructional delivery platform, demonstrates technology proficiency in using district-endorsed instructional applications.
Establishes clear communication with students, site facilitators, and all personnel within the distance learning instructional delivery platform.
Advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency.
Displays professionalism and leadership by following established school, agency, state and federal policies and procedures.
Performs other related job duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university. Must be certified or eligible to be certified within the subject area by the State Department of Education.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge of educational program development; knowledge of SC state standards.
Ability to conceptualize and implement innovate educational programs.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work in teams and coordinate programs involving a multi-disciplinary approach.
Limited overnight travel.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
