It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Compliance Analyst ensures adherence to federal, state, and agency standards by conducting audits, analyzing data, and monitoring compliance programs. This role identifies risks, recommends corrective actions, and supports the development of policies, procedures, and training to promote safety, accountability, and operational integrity across all SCDJJ facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs regular compliance reviews to ensure adherence to federal, state, and agency standards. 

Monitors the adherence of established corrective action plans.

Collects and analyzes data, identifies non-compliance issues, and prepares detailed reports with findings, trends, and recommendations for corrective actions.

Identifies potential risks, develops mitigation strategies, and collaborates with leadership to implement solutions that promote safety and operational integrity.

Assists in the creation, review, and revision of compliance-related policies and procedures to align with evolving agency standards.

Delivers training sessions and technical assistance to staff on compliance standards, regulatory updates, and best practices.

Performs other related duties as required or directed to support the agency and its mission.

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree and relevant program experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


The Compliance Analyst must possess comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations, including PREA, OSHA, and other standards relevant to juvenile justice and corrections. 

Ability to evaluate procedures, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.  

Precision in tracking compliance activities, conducting audits, and preparing reports.  

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required, as well as excellent verbal and written communication abilities for reporting and training purposes. 

Proficiency in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively.  

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel) and compliance tracking tools or databases.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided. 

Must be able to work in an environment.  

Travel is required to various sites throughout the state.

PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience in compliance, auditing, quality assurance, or a similar field. 

Experience in juvenile justice, corrections, or compliance within a government agency is highly desirable.
