What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Manager position at State of South Carolina?
Serves as manager of a least one residential residence and as a Direct Support Manager/Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) of a DDSN Regional Center residential area. Is responsible to ensure active treatment is provided for consumers. This position is responsible for 24 hour/7 day a week for programs and operations affecting all individuals in the assigned residential unit/area. Is responsible for direct supervision of the personnel and consumers in the assigned residential unit/area.
1. Ensures that each individual receives those services and interventions necessary to meet identified needs in accordance with active treatment standards on a daily basis.
2. Provides thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of services provided. Maintains documentation in compliance with SCDDSN written rules, regulations and policies. Ensures that programs/training are amended based on progress or newly identified needs/concerns.
3. Actively develops DSP Ill leadership and supervisory skills to enable effective training, supervision, and retention of assigned personnel. Proactively engages employees to build relationships that creates trust, open dialogue, and establishes clear responsibilities. Responsible for overall management and oversight of one or more residential buildings and the direct supervision of the personnel as assigned in the residential unit/area. Monitors staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage needs to support consumer needs. Completes monthly monitoring of Individual Support Plan training for staff, and provides training as needed. Oversees the Direct Support Professional staffs work performance and completes annual performance evaluations. In house managers work the schedules with Q assistance as needed.
4. Maintains continuous communication with guardians and advocates regarding significant events including injuries/incidents, training, and health of the individuals with disabilities to include but not limited to medical condition, hospitalizations, campus activities and other adverse advents.
5. Monitors consistency among external/internal programs and disciplines to ensure that any discrepancies or inconsistencies between programmatic, medical, dietary, and vocational aspects of consumer's assessments and programs are resolved.
6. Promotes a safe, orderly, neat, clean environment for consumers. Reports significant events and suspected abuse immediately per SCDDSN policy and procedures.
7. Performs additional duties as necessary.

Immunization:If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. State Disaster Plan:In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
