Job Responsibilities
Provide statewide ASL instruction to professionals serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students children and community members; provide statewide language mentoring to children and their families in their natural environment; provide statewide professional development for specific skill development; provide online and virtual ASL learning opportunities. Provide Deaf Mentor training in the natural environment by designing activities that will promote the child's acquisition of skills in variety of developmental areas; working closely with family members to create an effective visual environment in their home and learn techniques to use ASL effectively with their child through the implementation of an early visual communication methodology.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or related field and 3 years experience teaching ASL, or upon approval from HR, an Associate's in the above areas with 5 years experience or a HS Diploma with 8 years of experience in above areas; Native or near-native ASL user.
