What are the responsibilities and job description for the Existing Agribusiness Manager position at State of South Carolina?
The SC Department of Agriculture is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Existing Agribusiness Manager. The person in this position will conduct front line outreach to agribusinesses already within South Carolina, triaging what those companies need and how various program may be able to assist with their needs. In this role you will be responsible for:
- Conducting site visits with farmers and agribusiness owners.
- Meeting with county economic development offices and allies.
- Attending networking events and representing SCDA and our Office of Agribusiness Development.
- Serving as the point of contact with SCDA's Communications Team and assisting with presentations, press releases, etc.
- Creating social media posts for the Office of Agribusiness Development.
- Preparing presentations and grant documents.
- Recording all projects in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and preparing various reports from the software.
- Assisting with workforce programs by recruiting applicants, preparing and reviewing applications, awarding grants, and overall recording keeping.
- Preparing and submitting travel documents for staff.
- Coordinating meetings and preparing agendas.
- Managing travel arrangements and developing itineraries.
- Overseeing follow-up from meetings and activities.

- A bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience.
- Valid State driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
- A degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Economic Development, or related field.
- Three to five years' experience in economic development at a state, county, or regional level.
- Experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Completed economic development training program (e.g. South Carolina Institute, Basic Economic Development Course).
- Experience in grants management or communications.
- Ability to assess business operations, opportunity and related industry outlook.
- Must be able to communicate both verbally and written at every level.
- Ability to maintain effective business relationships with prospective and current clients.
- Ability to communicate effectively. Proficient in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office.
- Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task while managing time and projects effectively.
- Requires travel of up to 25% with up to 5% of travel to be conducted out of state and periodic weekend work.
- Familiarity with agribusiness; general understanding of economic development programs; and/or grants management would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of resources available throughout the state to attract and aid business.
- Knowledge of public relations and marketing programs.
Salary : $56,000 - $66,000
