What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Specialist II -Shipping/Receiving/Transport position at State of South Carolina?

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Inpatient Services - Crafts-Farrow, 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203. The Food Service Spec II (Shipping/Receiving) works under the Shipping/Receiving/Transport Supervisor(s) and/or Operations Manager receiving, transporting and shipping food in compliance with department, local, state and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receives food and supplies and stores in appropriate location using FIFO principle and maintains cleanliness and organization of all cold and dry areas.
- Maintains records for inventories, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation check list, temperature, charts, and all other records necessary for the operation of the ship/rec/transp area. Maintains HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards compliance in all work areas.
- Conducts physical inventory and fills requisitions for departmental food and supplies. Receives, counts, and verifies food and supply deliveries against invoices.
- Performs all warewashing, sanitation and cleaning techniques to meet department standards.
- Demonstrates good customer service with clients, Nutrition Services staff, as well as, all other DMH staff by providing required services in a pleasant, helpful and positive manner.
- Adheres to patients' privacy and "Bill of Rights" standard requirements while performing duties.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. The selected candidate must have the physical ability to manually lift 50 lbs. and push 100 lbs. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, or climb stairs. May encounter temperatures ranging from -10 degrees F to 400 degrees F around equipment. This is an essential position during an emergency .
