What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor, Computer Technology (9+3) position at State of South Carolina?
Teach computer technology courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student orientation and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist department head with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on the Central Campus, Cherokee County Campus, Tyger River Campus, in traditional format, by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends or a combination.
TEACHING PERFORMANCE – The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT – The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT – The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES – The participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.Master's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems with a Master's Degree in a related area with at least 18 graduate hours in Computer Science/Information Systems.
Web development work experience and teaching experience preferred. Fluency with web standards and technologies including CSS, HTML, JavaScript and JSP preferred.
