What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor, Criminal Justice (9 Month) position at State of South Carolina?
Teach Criminal Justice courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials, recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours, participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in college and community activity; promote the mission of the college; develop and implement retention strategies; assist in graduation placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student orientation and registration; serve on college committees; promote institutional goals; assist the department head with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus or assigned site and may be days, nights, weekends, and distance learning or a combination.
- Teaching Performance – the ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
- Instructional Development – the development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.
- Instructional management – the effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
- Student Advisement – the participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
- Professional Development – the participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
- College and/or Community Service – the participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service. A Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice.
-Experience teaching Criminal Justice in various formats to adults as well as dual enrollment students. -PhD preferred.
