The LAW ENFORCMENT OFFICER performs assigned shellfish program estuarine water quality monitoring, seafood processing plant operation inspections and evaluations, sanitary surveys for area classification, and pollution abatement and law enforcement operations associated with harvesting, handling, and transportation of products as required by the SC Department of Environmental Services Office of Law Enforcement Shellfish Program. Provide assistance to the ambient water quality monitoring program.
Job Functions:
- Participate in a law enforcement program related to shellfish programs activities, as well as other environmental activities regulated by the state.
- Assist in the implementation of a shellfish growing water sampling program. Assist in the implementation of state shellfish inspection programs.
- Transport and assist stream monitoring personnel in collection of data. Maintain all shellfish equipment.
- Compile all necessary administrative and shellfish program reports.
- Perform other duties as required, which include attending periodic staff meetings and training.
SCDES Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; or an associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and two (2) years of environmental health or related experience; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of environmental health or related experience.
