About Midlands Regional Center
Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Job ResponsibilitiesThis position provides daily nursing care, training, activities and treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers according to all licensing and Certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.
Under the supervision of a RN, provides nursing care, treatment, and training of all assigned in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act and SCDDSN Policies and Procedures. Administer route oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
Monitors health conditions of the individual and reports findings to medical provider and appropriated staff. Assist physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
Assures accountability and protection from harm for all individuals are appropriate and thorough documentation.
Review Monthly MAR and 90-day recertification orders, completes healthcare Records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations; Assistant with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures; assure proper documentation.
Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited, to participation in on-call rotation procedure.
***Shift Differential Hourly Rates: Monday – Friday 2nd and 3rd shift = $0.75, Saturday – Sunday 1st shift = $3.00, Saturday – Sunday 2nd and 3rd shift = $3.75

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
