The Regional Integration Officer (RIO) serves as the regional integrator and coalition builder that enables a state-wide coalition of partners with an interest in Veterans to create and sustain an environment in which Veterans can thrive as valued and contributing members of the South Carolina community. Works with County Veterans Affairs Officers to optimize the organization, resourcing, and procedures that allow for all Veterans and families in obtaining benefits to which they are entitled. Integrates the effects of all entities (Federal, State, private sector, non-profits, etc.) within assigned region that provide any service to Veterans or their families. Builds, strengthens, and maintains a region-wide coalition of Veteran-focused organizations. The Veterans and their families are our customers and customer service is our first and most important job.
Responsibilities of the Regional Integrator Officer:
- Using the South Carolina Veteran Coalition as a system of record, RIOs integrate the effects of all entities (Federal, State. private sector, non-profits, etc.) within assigned region that provide any service to Veterans or their families. Builds, strengthens. and maintains a region-wide coalition of Veteran-focused organizations.
- Although Community Veteran Engagement Councils are our main point of connection to a region, continue to encourage growth of local Veteran Engagement/Advocacy Councils and act as a liaison between each. Works "by," "'with.'" and, '"around"' (in some cases) CVAOs in order to ensure that all Veterans have awareness of services, access to services, and timely submission of benefit claims. Shares the available resources from the region-wide coalition of Veteran-focused organizations with CVAOs in order to better support Veterans and their families. Attends Regional and/or county meetings that provide updates from local services to ensure inclusiveness off all available resources, always looking to grow the network.
- RIOs are responsible for making the Palmetto Pathfinder Program a success. Training and certification are the responsibility of the Department, but recruitment, mentoring during training, communication, assignment, feedback, and continuing education is the responsibility of the RIO. Collaborate with partner agencies to develop and enhance Palmetto Pathfinder Program curriculum to measure and meet the evolving needs of our transitioning Veteran population in South Carolina. Be able to serve as SCDVA facilitator during Palmetto Pathfinder Courses to teach valuable skills and techniques essential for building efficient Palmetto Pathfinders and reinforce proper Pathfinder procedures. Manage Pathfinder volunteers, by maintaining rosters, hosting meetings, conducting training, and ensuring follow-up/reporting of engagements. Make them yours.
- Coordinates specific veteran-related activities within an assigned region, to include women and minority initiatives, grants and donations, veterans service organization relations coordination, and the promotion of veteran health, employment, education, and training. Maintain an open line of communication with all assigned coordinators within the State Coalition Integration Division. Actively participates in working groups that are dedicated to SCDVA Lines of Effort, to include, but not limited to SCDVA working groups: Workforce Development, End Homelessness, and Health Promotion: maintain a level of knowledge in order to participate on behalf of the director, as required, and participate in Action Plan Updates and Review.
- Other duties and assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to business management, operations management, or leadership development and 10 years of experience leading diverse organizations OR 10 years of experience leading organizations comprised of diverse elements over which the leader has limited to no authority.

- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Position requires frequent lifting: 20 lbs.
- Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but travel and field work will be required in areas where there are some risks and hazards that are known, predictable, and controllable.
