This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588
Under direct supervision, performs duties of a medical assistant in the South Strand Office/Clinic for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Works closely with staff, patients, nurses and business/front office to enhance quality care.
Provides direct patient care - injections, weight, blood pressure, height and pluses rate by physicians and nurses. Assists with prior authorization requests as appropriate and seeks physicians' assistance as needed. Acts as a PAP (Patient Assistance Program) coordinator. Assist the clinic with PAP and prioritizations and authorizations for medication. Completes all required paperwork for medication assistance, which includes logging in medications that arrive at the clinic, reviewing the client's medication order and contacting clients for medication pick up. Organizes and updates the medication storage room. Cross trained in business office to make reminder calls to clients for appointments and will serve as back up for business office coverage. Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF Standards. Applicant needs to have experience working in a mental health setting with knowledge of practical nursing procedures and the ability to make accurate and technical and physical observations of patients. Knowlege is needed of the services provided in a comprehensive mental health programs service children, youth and adults. Able to coordinate services with other health and community organizations. Must be capable of establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships with employees and patients. Performs other related duties and tasks as required by supervisor or their designee, but not limited to, patient screenings (C20), COVID screenings and managing Share Point for Doxy rooms and intake appointments. Bending, standing, walking, sitting and lifting 20 pounds is required.
State and Agency Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Must have licensure as LPN through the SC Board of Nursing, SC LLR.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Local candidates strongly preferred.
