Job Purpose
Provides evidenced based services (safe, effective and measurable) to promote and support the recovery of persons with mental illness. Guides patients in development of skills or strategies toward achieving and maintaining good mental health.
Job Functions
State Requirements: A Masters’ degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences or a related field.
Agency Requirements: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in SC and willing to work towards licensure in SC. Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by DMH Office of Quality Management. Job Purpose

Job Functions
- Maintains a bill-time rate of 860 hours annually.
- Ensures patients are seen in accordance with their needs.
- Completes clinical documentation using collaborative documentation.
- Ensures patient functionality is measured by the DLA-20.
- Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, pursues professional development, and demonstrates effective use of social and interpersonal knowledge and skills and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of individual and group differences and similarities.
- Effectively utilizes and maintains certification of evidence-based practices.
- Attends treatment team meetings and provides consultation regarding complex cases as appropriate.
- Reviews caseload weekly for timely discharge, engagement, transition and follow-up.
- Completes documentation according to QA/SCDMH standards, Complies with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan, and Ensures timely completion of prior authorizations.
- Performs other duties as needed.

- One (1) year of post-graduate experience providing counseling/treatment.
- Licensed or licensed eligible by the state of South Carolina and willing to pursue licensure.
- Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
- Ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
- Knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
- Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
- Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
- Routine supervision provided by supervisor, psychiatrist and monthly consultation groups.
- Employee's activities are governed by ABMHC and SCDMH policy and procedure.
- Ability to lift 5lbs and operate a state vehicle.
- Position is considered essential and may be called back during crises/disasters/emergencies.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
