With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
One position is available. This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.
Please note these positions will have a hire and start date as of July 2, 2024, and beyond.
Under direct supervision will serve as Access/Crisis Team clinician providing screening, assessment, crisis intervention, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, completion of judicial and emergency forms for probate court with individuals and other approved services to clients of the Conway office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health.
Provide therapy, emergency services, and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances, to include assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education and case management.
Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance, and CARF Standards.
Act as contact for referral sources by providing information about the services offered by the Center. Including criteria for admission and types of treatment programs available.
Provide a variety of coordination and consultation services with the school, community agencies, local hospitals, probate court and DMH staff to assist clients in maximizing recovery efforts.
Knowledge of the scope and range of services provided in a comprehensive community mental health program serving adults and children, and understanding the unique treatment needs of this population. Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families and representatives of other professional disciplines. Ability to communicate effectively.
Employee shall be self-directed and motivated, functioning independently, and exercising good clinical judgement.
Annual Employee Performance Management System in place for all DMH employees.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Clinic Director.
STATE REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences. Must be able to meet DMH credentialing requirements.

In order to satisfy DMH credentialing requirements, you must have the following graduate coursework:
Psychopathology Course
Psychopathology Diagnostic Course
Clinical Assessment – Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) – or other related assessment courses
Ethics Course – related to medical profession.

PREFERRED: Experience working with adults and children in a community mental health setting.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
