This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588

Please note this position requires a master's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences, and evidence of one-year of clinical experience providing direct patient care.  This can include internship, practicum, previous post graduate work experience, where one has worked with patients. One must meet DMH credentialing requirements.  Please pay special attention to state and agency minimum requirements.  

This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Under limited supervision by clinical director and program manager, provides therapeutic services, particularly as a specialist for the Adult and Child and Adolescent services of the South Strand Office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health.  

Staff will provide/coordinate intakes/aftercare appointments for this clinic.  

Staff also provides counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal, health and psychosocial factors. Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I include but not limited to:Provides therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing methanal disturbances, to include primarily assessments and crisis intervention. 

One will also provide individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education and home visits as needed.

Expectation is that the employee will provide counseling services to clients of WCMH on a full-time basis, 37. 5 hours a week, Monday - Friday, maintaining an average bill time of at least 810.0 direct service annualized hours. 

Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.  

Provides a variety of coordination services with the school, community agencies, and DMH staff.  

Educates the community through workshops and presentations in regard to children and mental health issues.

Thorough knowledge of the range and scope of services provided in a comprehensive mental health program serving adults, children and families in the unique treatment needs of this special population.

Ability to integrate and coordinate services with those of other disciplines and to communicate effectively.

This employee will be able to perform case management, interviewing and assessment skills.

Will participate in on-going in-service training and other educations opportunities in order to maintain and/or acquire necessary skills. 

Employee should be self-directed and motivated, functioning independently and exercising good clinical judgement.

Employee will be evaluated annually by the Employee Performance Management System.

Provides after hours emergency services as directed by clinic director.

Performs other related duties as required by supervisor and center executive director.



 








 



State Minimum Requirements

A master's degree in guidance, social sciences or counseling is required.  Must meet SCDMH credentialing requirements that include the following graduate coursework:
Psychopathology
Psychopathology Diagnostic Course
Ethics Coursework related to medical profession
Clinical Assessment - Practice with family therapy (DSM) or any related assessment graduate course 

Agency Minimum Requirements

A master's degree in guidance, social sciences or counseling is required.  Must meet SCDMH credentialing requirements that include the following graduate coursework:
