What are the responsibilities and job description for the Minority and Small Business Affairs Summer Intern (12501001) position at State of South Carolina?
In the area of the Division of Minority and Small Business Affairs (MSBA), the responsibilities include:
Under direct supervision, interns will gain general exposure to all MSBA programs including the Office of Civil Right Programs, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Supportive Services including Business Development Center and Data Management and Reporting, and Mega Projects, Technical Assistance & Compliance in addition to special projects for the Division Director’s staff.
- Attends meetings, workshops, outreach events, and training sessions relating to Civil Rights Programs.
- Learns to verify state and federal quarterly reports, process closeouts, and code subcontractor and hauler’s requests. Assists with scanning documents, developing, and entering data for DBE projects, FHWA reports, work activities, and payments.
- Assists with conducting Contract Compliance Reviews, On-the-Job Training Reviews, Title VI Reviews and DBE Onsite Reviews per federal regulations. Utilizes applicable databases to retrieve pertinent information that will assist in the review process and prepare reports for review and approval.
- Assists with reviewing Stage Type Inspection Reports per federal regulations.
- Aids in performing project on-site, prompt payment reviews, provides investigative and analytical-related functions, and attends meetings/interviews with certified and prospective DBE firms.
- Assists with proofreading specifications and preparing spreadsheets.
- Attends selected relevant agency, local, and/or national committee meetings with the division director.
- Completes and gives a presentation on an assigned final project.
Pay Rate is between $17.00 - $23.00/per hour depending on qualifications.A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
