Under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, the Women, Infants, and Childen (WIC) Nutrition Educator Team LEAD would assess, plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) team and nutritional services provided through the Region. 

Supervision and Leadership:

-Provide leadership, direction, and training to include food packages, nutrition updates, certifications, and floor supervision for the Nutrition Educators/Certified Competent Professional Authority (CPA) and program guidelines.

-Recruit, orientate, provide on-going professional development, and performance of the site's nutrition team upon the request of the Manager and the WIC Nutrition Program Manager of the Region. 

-Complete employee's performance management system ( EPMS) annually as mandated per state policy; review, approve all time and leave through the State's Enterprise Information System ( SCEIS).

Clinical and Training:

-Monitor and supervise staff in the completion of the WIC certification process including anthropometrics, evaluation of risk status, nutrition counseling, follow-up, documentation, and prescriptions for WIC food packages in the SC-WIC system.

-Plan, conduct, document, and evaluate group nutrition education sessions to include tele-nutrition.  

-Provide leadership in clinic and class scheduling, caseload monitoring, and outreach as a key member of the multidisciplinary WIC team; complete certifications and fingerstick as needed. 

-Supervise the ordering, tracking, and inventory of WIC nutrition educational materials and WIC contract formula, breastfeeding supplies, and issuance. Promote breastfeeding as per agency protocol. Work with other program staff and discipline to enhance clinic flow, integration, and quality of service delivery.     

Emergency Preparedness:

Agency lead to participate in an emergency response, natural or man-made disasters, may involve being on call 24/7 during the emergency response.  


State Minimum Requirements: Some positions require registration or eligibility for registration by the American Dietetics Association. A bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or community nutrition and experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting; or a bachelor’s degree in any field and registration by the American Dietetics Association and experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting. Some positions require registration with the American Dietetics Association and a valid license from the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements: A Master's degree in public health nutrition, community nutrition, dietetics, or nutrition and one (1) year of experience in a clinical, public health, or institutional setting; or a Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics or other nutrition degree and two years of experience in a clinical, public health, or institutional setting. Bachelor’s degree in Family and consumer sciences and two (2) years of nutrition related work experience in a clinical or public health setting, and two (2) years of supervisory experience.



Having prior WIC experience.

Driving Record:  If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.

Salary : $43,166 - $45,627
