Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, serves as a paralegal in the General and Special Victims Prosecution Section from the beginning of a case until the case is complete.
- Case Intake : Receives a case as it is assigned to the division and notifies the appropriate agencies of its assignment. Receives and uploads discovery, requesting any missing information. Creates a defense copy of the material and redacts out the necessary information. Prepares discovery for defense attorneys and files reciprocal motions on behalf of the State.
- Case Prep : Becomes familiar with the case and adds additional discovery as it is received. Prepares documents for court, including but not limited to indictments, sentencing sheets, permanent restraining orders, and motions. Conducts legal research on issues as needed.
- Trial : Prepares for and attends trial with attorneys in the section.
- Case Closure : Successfully closes and files away disposed cases and sends case files back when necessary. Uploads closing documents, notifies appropriate agencies and completes any other task necessary for a case.
- Prepares subpoenas for State Grand Jury sessions as directed by the attorneys / agents; prepares disclosure forms / orders when requested by attorneys / agents. Assists assigned attorneys with State Grand Jury cases by notifying the court reporter of all necessary corrections on transcripts, keeps account of all transcripts, and tracks indictment paperwork.
- Serves as Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator for NCIC for the entire office.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work.
Necessary Requirement : Paralegal Certificate or an Associate degree with paralegal studies
