What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic Instructor position at State of South Carolina?
- Teaching Performance - Instructs courses in accordance with the approved syllabi and CoAEMSP standards. Provides students with appropriate course materials (syllabus, calendar, policy statements or guidelines). Adheres to course competencies in the preparation and delivery of quality instruction. Provides appropriate and timely feedback to students. Maintains a positive environment for optimum student performance. Instruction includes assessment planning, student performance tracking, and evaluation of Paramedic curriculum. Effectively instructs live and online courses.
- Instructional Development - Develops and maintains course syllabi and curriculum. Maintains current course materials in college's online learning platform and SharePoint site. Develops courses for live in-person and online training environments.
- Student Advisement - Provides appropriate academic and career guidance to students. May be assigned to develop and coordinate varied programming within the Division.
- Instructional Management -Maintains records and documentation required for students according to accreditation standards. Maintains equipment and supplies utilized in the program. Inspects and ensures equipment is in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Performs inventory control. Completes required reports and course documentation
- Professional Development: Seek ways to keep current in the teaching field. Develop an annual professional development plan (with short and long-range goals) in keeping with the College’s mission and institutional goals. Participate in appropriate courses, seminars and workshops especially those that introduce new ideas or practices.
- Associate's Degree
Possesses and maintains appropriate healthcare credentials, to include National Registered Paramedic Certification and certifications in ACLS, PALS
- An approved trauma course
Knowledge of instructional methods with teaching/training experience in requisite Paramedic skills instruction
- At least three years of experience as a Paramedic
Must obtain Paramedic Instructor Certification within 90 days of hire date
Preference may be given to individuals with certifications or degrees above the associate’s level, and/or current instructor certification in Paramedic, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and approved Trauma (PHTLS, etc.) courses.
Ability to teach adults with preference given to those with facilitation/instruction experience in higher education.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with diverse student groups and colleagues.
Experience with Platinum Educational Products, scheduling and curricula preferred.
Organization and attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, ability to track and monitor data, continuous improvement focused, proficient in MS Office products, ability to plan and manage instruction/resources, ability to research, understand and follow compliance requirements.
