Science | Service | SustainabilityUnder limited supervision, this position will conduct the postal functions of sorting, processing and distribution of inter-agency, intra-agency, United States Postal Services mail and parcels from commercial services such as UPS, FedEx and other package delivery services.Job Duties: Process all incoming and outgoing mail/courier packages/envelopes for the Agency. Interact with Agency personnel and third-party courier vendors on issues relating to mail/courier processes to ensure quality service and to resolve any problems.Process Agency certified/priority/express mail and incoming (UPS/FedEx) regional office work received and ensures proper delivery throughout Headquarters and transfers to the lab. Send outgoing mail. Tracks all Agency incoming Certified/Priority/Express mail with Pitney Track/Ship computer modules.Assist Postal Director in the coordination of dispatching incoming and outgoing mail and lab samples with third-party courier services vendor. Assist with resolution of service delivery issues as required.Assist Postal Director in the maintaining of Agency mail room records by completing monthly status reports of costs and mail activity within SCDES. Assists in tracking costs for all mail room equipment, supplies and services. Completes supply request lists when needed.Perform other duties as required by manager.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
High school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations. Must have valid driver’s license. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application are encouraged to upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent organizational skills.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both an oral and written manner.Work effectively in a team-oriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials, work independently.Work in all reasonable weather conditions and access non-traditional work environments.Must be able to work overtime and limited travel, if needed.Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds from the ground up to table height.
