Manages and directs the examination activities of examining teams on larger bank examinations and those with weakened financial condition or safety and soundness concerns and on credit union examinations.  Works closely with the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners in developing recommendations for regulatory action in cases of impaired banks and in drafting bank Board of Director Resolutions, Memorandums of Understanding, and Cease and Desist Orders needed to correct weaknesses determined at examinations.  Manages the work assignments of other examiners and reviews their work and results of examination.  Prepares comments and conclusions for examination reports and discusses findings with bank management.  Collaborates with Federal supervisory authorities such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Reserve Bank as necessary and applicable.  Responsible for reviewing and evaluating the bank’s capital adequacy, asset quality, management, earnings, and liquidity position.  Reviews and evaluates loan files of large commercial banks and credit unions, and verifies collateral and determines if loans are of good quality and collectible.  Discusses overdue and other problem loans with senior bank management in order to determine which loans and lines of credit will be subject to adverse classification.  Determines whether policies of the bank’s board of directors are conducive to safe and sound banking and whether activities are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  Advises the Commissioner of Banking regarding the condition of banks recently examined and banks to be examined and the performance of personnel.

A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting and/or finance courses and professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance, or tax preparation and/or analysis. Five years’ experience in bank examining is needed.  Completion of the FDIC Examiners schools and advanced examination schools sponsored by the FDIC or similar entity is preferred. Must be able to safely lift and carry files, books and reports weighing up to 20 lbs.  Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods of time.  Must be able to reach, bend, and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment.
