Job Responsibilities

Assists in the statewide collection, evaluation, analysis, and summarization of technical road inventory and systems data. Reviews simple to moderately complex engineering construction plans and applies advanced engineering principles in order to extract roadway physical attributes, and roadway curve data. Sets priorities and performance standards for the technical staff in these sections.
Assists in tracking all road and bridge projects statewide and, upon completion, reports appropriate information about them to engineering and planning offices as necessary. Supervises a technical team in the Road Inventory Unit of Road Data Services and assists in the technical daily operations of the QC programs for this section.
Assists in the resolution of customer inquiries through research, assessment, and implementation regarding any discrepancies in inventory data. Assists in complex road transportation studies in converting LRS to the GIS in support of the department's ITMS. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and one (1) year of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
