Conduct field inspection on complex permits requiring firm understanding of technical aspects including traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental and safety practices. Review, inspect, and recommend for approval moderate level encroachment permits. Provides assistance to public requests for information and guidance on encroachments permit applications, driveway installations and reviews requests for Freedom of Information Act research, traffic control complaints, and guidance. Assists Permits Manager in processing new permits and approved permits when needed. Assists Permits office staff with guidance and research in the absence of the Permits Manager. Required to work during snow and ice or inclement weather to provide support to the office operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise.
