JOB PURPOSE:
Under limited supervision, performs the most complex administrative functions and over sees a system for processing youth admitted to the detention center to ensure that photographs, case files, and other appropriate are prepared according to the presented schedule.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Examines and interprets all detainment orders of incoming youth to ensure the legality, validity, completeness, and accuracy and refers improper orders to proper authorities.Establishes and oversees a system for processing youth admitted to the Detention Center to ensure that photographs, casefiles, and other appropriate documents are prepared according to the presented schedule.
Serves as the primary liaison to the DJJ community offices to verify and ensure the accuracy of court orders and information in the computer-based MIS system.
Ensures that drug screens are conducted as court ordered and otherwise directed.
Develops and oversees a Records Management System that ensures the accountability of all youth records and the purging of case files according to prescribed schedule.
Ensures the appropriate admissions and program assignments of all detained youth according to established agency guidelines and protocols; ensures that the complete file and proper documents are forwarded to the control station.
Supervises and trains staff in policies and procedures essential to the effective operation of the Detention Center Admission section.
Monitors requests for information from outside entities and applies policies governing the release of information to ensure confidentiality is maintained.
Approves all visitation lists through law enforcement and DJJ Community offices, keeps visitation data sheet, and scheduled special visitations with approval.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient in excel and calculating formulas to maintain an efficient data base, with one year experience in the Family court system.
Preparing and maintaining daily, weekly, monthly reports with proficiency is vital.
Requires considerable knowledge of CRT terminal operations/interviewing and processing of youth.
Considerable knowledge of records management techniques.
Working knowledge of the SC Code of Laws and Departmental policies on time/sentence computation.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
This position performs the job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of the youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of the Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct or indirect contact with youth within the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
