Admissions Clerk
Location: Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute (MTMHI) – Nashville, TN
Salary: $39,000 per year
Shifts Available:
- 6 AM – 7 PM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- 6 PM – 7 AM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
About the Role:
MTMHI is seeking an Admissions Clerk to manage and process patient admissions efficiently while ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital policies. This position plays a key role in maintaining hospital operations by coordinating referrals, tracking admissions, and ensuring data integrity in hospital systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process admissions referrals, including paperwork preparation, tracking pending referrals, and issuing ASA Bed Confirmations.
- Monitor and update hospital status by sending notifications when admissions are on Diversion.
- Ensure accurate data entry into AVATAR, preventing duplicate MPI numbers and errors in unit and physician assignments.
- Follow admissions policies and procedures before assigning patients to their designated units.
- Maintain competency training by completing all required training by assigned deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Experience with hospital admissions, patient records, or administrative support preferred.
- Familiarity with AVATAR or similar electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a plus.
