Qualifications
Education and Experience : Experience equivalent to three years of full-time carpentry, woodwork, mechanical maintenance, industrial arts, or other related acceptable work.
Substitution of Education for Experience : Qualifying coursework at a vocational school or technical school in industrial arts, carpentry, woodworking, mechanics, or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Necessary Special Qualifications : A valid vehicle operator's license, including a CDL, may be required for employment in some positions.
Examination Method : Education and Experience,100%, for Preferred Service positions.
Overview
Summary : Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled therapeutic equipment work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required.
Distinguishing Features : An employee in this class assists in the design and modification of wheelchairs and other appliances to fit the special needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
Getting Information :
- Receives paperwork from clinician in order to repair, modify, and fabricate custom alternative equipment to meet positioning needs of consumer.
- Obtains material lists for specific projects from inventory / manufacturing system to document materials used for inventory control.
Monitoring Processes, Materials, or Surroundings :
Visually inspects and monitors inventory / non-inventory item quantities during material issues and follows facility notification protocol to minimize delay in daily operations and to prevent shortages.Judging the Qualities of Things, Services, or People :
Assess the quality of materials to ensure safety and durability according to set equipment standards.Processing Information :
Reviews and verifies plans with clinician prior to construction of custom equipment.Perform calculations to determine the amount of materials used for a project.Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards :
Evaluates work orders to ensure compliance with facility policy and procedures.Thinking Creatively :
