Job overview :
The Institutional Investigator position is assigned to the Office of Investigation and Conducts (OIC) Investigations Unit (IU) and is assigned to the Northwest Correctional Complex. Under the direction of the regional Special Agent in Charge, the Institutional Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations as required at their respective facility related to offenses relative to or affecting the Department of Correction. They may also assist in other criminal investigations, pursuit and apprehension of offenders, and other duties as assigned by the OIC Director.
Key responsibilities :
Specific Responsibilities Include :
- Conduct administrative and criminal investigations at their respective facility and assist Special Agents with other criminal investigations.
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise institutional and vehicle searches.
- Develop confidential informant resources.
- Appear in court to give testimony.
- Provide timely information regarding potential or actual security risks.
- Prepare case reports and provide case updates.
- Identify security issues and interdict contraband.
- Coordinate use-of-force reports for accurate, thorough, and timely information.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with TDOC staff and External Partners.
- Other duties as assigned by the Investigation Unit Director.
- In addition, the individual assigned to this position must be able to respond to major crimes and incidents on short notice and be able to be on call 24 hours / 7 days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
