Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and facilitating timely payments from insurance companies and patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing practices to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
- Review patient records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
- Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise during the billing process.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Assist with medical collections as needed, ensuring that all accounts are managed professionally.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, billing practices, and coding standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical coding, including knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to diagnoses and procedures.
- Experience with medical billing processes and familiarity with various insurance policies.
- Ability to manage medical records efficiently while ensuring compliance with privacy laws.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurers.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies in billing information.
- Familiarity with Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
