The Dispensing Nurse candidate is responsible for dispensing any medications the clinic may use to treat patients; this includes methadone. The candidate will monitor all patient needs, and care for all patients reporting to the opiate treatment clinic. The candidate will work with the Medical Director, Physician, and Clinical Program Director to ensure appropriate medical care of patients. The candidate is also responsible for the complete and accurate documentation of all medical aspects of the medical record. This includes both paper documentation, and frequent use of our Electronic Health Record. The candidate must be comfortable learning to use the program Methasoft.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Set up dispensing of medication
- Dispense medication
- Monitor medication inventory and report to NP
- Reconcile inventory of methadone
- Print daily reports
- Sign and process physicians' orders
- Enter notes in Methasoft and input flags as per physician orders
- Processes dose changes and put notes in systems
- Document "no shows" in system
- Coordinate guest medication
- Collect UDS data as required under section 330
- Monitor vital signs for dose changes
- File appropriate paperwork [daily]
- Print, sign, and file monthly medication record
- Provide intervention in crisis management situations
- Perform all duties per work schedule
