Founded in 1965, Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is an anti-poverty program designed to provide needed resources to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to increase their capacity to lift communities out of poverty.
AmeriCorps VISTA provides opportunities for Americans 18 years or older from a diverse range of backgrounds to dedicate a year of full-time service with an organization (“sponsor”) to create or expand programs designed to empower individuals and communities in overcoming poverty.
AmeriCorps VISTA’s mission is “to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.”
Get Healthy Utah's VISTA member will work with school, workplace, healthcare, and community leaders to advocate for healthy policies statewide. They will plan events, including a 2024 summit hosted by Get Healthy Utah and other partnering organizations to facilitate discussion on strategies to improve healthy lifestyle behaviors in all Utahns. They will also create a funder database and promotional materials designed to encourage partners to engage in the Healthy Utah Community Designation.
Apply on the VistaCorps program website, click hereThese programs incentivize healthcare providers to serve rural and underserved parts of Utah through loan repayment grants and visa waivers. The VISTA member will work to improve healthcare provider recruitment and retention programs. These programs address the social determinants of health needed to advance economic stability in rural and underserved areas. Specifically, you will:
- Nurture the current and next generation of healthcare workforce.
- Prioritize health communications that are timely, accurate, and empathic.
- Utilize information systems, outsourced experts, and data collection to identify the story of PCRH and maximize impact.
- Implement other relevant projects identified by PCRH Director, Health Systems Support Coordinator, Workforce Development Coordinator, or State Dental Director. PCRH is seeking a VISTA member that is adaptable and flexible; willing to engage Utah’s rural communities and learn new skills; and able to collaborate with team members and partners to solve problems, make decisions and evaluate programs.

This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
