What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aircraft Mechanic position at State of Utah?
Do you like airplanes? Do you enjoy performing aircraft maintenance? Then look no further; the Utah Department of Transportation is looking for a skilled and motivated person to perform inspections and maintenance on State owned aircraft. You will be responsible for performing maintenance on aircraft, engines, propellers, accessories, appliances, and component parts. You will also maintain pertinent inventories, service the shop, related equipment, and related hanger facilities.
Principal Duties
As an Aircraft Mechanic, you will:
- Ensure proper aircraft maintenance and operational readiness.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on state owned aircraft.
- Maintain detailed records and attend to other related administrative requirements.
- Perform inspections and maintenance as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must:
- Possess a valid and current FAA airframe and powerplant license
- Have at least three (3) years fixed-wing maintenance experience.
- Provide own basic tools
- Have a valid driver's license
Preferences
Preference may be give to those with at least one of the following:
- An Inspection Authorization certification
- Experience with training on, maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspection on Beech-craft King Air Series and Cessna 100 and 200 series aircraft.

- Ability to operate applicable specialized and safety equipment
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, concisely, verbally and in writing

- This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing of employees after hire. A conditional offer of employment may be made pending drug test results.
- Working Conditions - Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with hazardous chemicals, etc.
- Physical Requirements - Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
