Buildings & Grounds Supervisor II

Dead Horse Point State Park is hiring a Buildings & Grounds Supervisor II to oversee the maintenance and repair of park facilities and systems. This role is vital in ensuring the park remains safe, functional, and welcoming for all visitors. From managing water and septic systems to maintaining campgrounds and restrooms, this position offers variety and challenges for individuals passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair all buildings and grounds, including campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, housing units, and water systems.
- Maintain and repair, as needed, the park's fleet of OHVs and golf carts.
- Manage culinary and secondary water systems, as well as waste and wastewater systems. This includes operating the park's water truck (requires a Class A CDL and water endorsement).
- Directly supervise one part-time maintenance employee and up to twelve seasonal, volunteer camp hosts.
- Operate and repair all park equipment to ensure it remains in good working condition.
- Plan and manage projects, including estimating costs, coordinating resources, and communicating with vendors and contractors.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff, including task delegation and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge and experience in general construction, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Understanding of the principles and practices of facility operations, construction, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with complex water and sewer systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Possession of a valid Class A CDL at the time of hire; a water endorsement must be attained within one month.
- Additional experience with advanced maintenance techniques or specialized equipment operations is a plus.
- Previous experience in large park or facility management.
